The Oklahoma Board of Dentistry is the first member organization to officially endorse the newly drafted American Association of Dental Boards Dental and Dental Hygiene Compact.
The unanimous vote took place at the Oklahoma board’s August 11, 2023 meeting. Among other significant benefits, an official endorsement letter noted that the proposed compact “would facilitate improved communication between participating dental boards. This improved communication would expedite licensure for dental and dental hygiene licensees, including military personnel and their spouses. Expediting licensure does not mean a lack of oversight to protect the public.”
The compact is being readied for presentation to legislatures nationwide by late summer, 2023.
